Dentist – Dr Jo Milne
About 14 years ago whilst working in a Birkenhead practice with steep stairs Jo had a vision that dentistry needed to be more easily accessible for the local community of Milford and Forrest Hill and together with Jasmax Architects set out to create a bright, airy space that has a timeless elegance as well as a relaxing ambience.
Dentist on Shakespeare was opened in November, 1999 and from that day Jo has never looked back. A reputation that spans 28 years draws clients from all over Auckland. Since qualifying in 1982 Jo has worked 3 years in hospital based Oral Surgery units and the rest of the years in general practice. Special interests include cosmetic makeovers and early intervention of periodontal (gum) disease both of which improve confidence and overall well being. “A lot of dentistry is preventable, so it is my aim to educate patients to reduce risks of either tooth or periodontal damage. My hygienists are carefully chosen and trained to identify problem areas and continue offering advice at maintenance appointments” says Jo.
Jo has a commitment to excellence and strives to continuously update her knowledge and experience by regular attendance of seminars given by world renowned speakers. A Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in the subject of periodontology was awarded from Otago University in 1998. Jo is a member of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, New Zealand Dental Association as well as the local Auckland Dental Association.
Spare time allows indulgences in tennis, tramping and skiing as well as support of her 2 children Hannah and Andrew.

Practice Manager/Receptionist – Renee Martin
I have worked in the dental industry for the past 8 years in various roles including dental assisting and as an orthodontic auxiliary.
I love the way my reception role allows me to meet and interact with a wide variety of people. It is a great place to work and the positive feedback from our clientele is encouraging. I especially love seeing a patient walk out feeling good about themselves with a brand new smile and I enjoy working in an industry that is forever changing.

Hygienist – Lyn Badua-Furlong
Lyn came to Dentist on Shakespeare in 2002 and thrives on seeing the amazing improvements in her patients oral hygiene year after year. Qualified as a dentist in the Phillipines in 1987 Lyn has added to her experiences by actively attending seminars centred around gum health. Lyn understands that lowered immunity can increase the effects of plaque damage and for this reason keeps herself up to date with the numerous products available as adjunctive homecare aids. Lyn is also our resident expert on Britesmile and Zoom in-surgery whitening systems so please feel free to make an appointment to look through our before and after albums whilst Lyn explains the process.
Lyn says “If a gum bleeds when brushing or flossing it is not healthy.”
Lyn will pull out all the stops to ensure that you maintain a healthy, bright smile for life.

Hygienist – Sue Andrews
Born and bought up on the North Shore, Sue was schooled at Carmel College which is just across the road from the Practice. Sue then went over to the UK to train as a hygienist back in the 90's. She has been working back in NZ since 1996 and working with Jo since 2008.
Sue especially enjoys working with the huge variety of patients that come through the door, from the very young to the very old and gets a lot of personal satisfaction in treating these patients and seeing their confidence grow after treatment. Known for being very gentle and calming Sue loves her job and would say that it's the patients that make her day. When not working Sue enjoys spending time with her young son and being an active mum taking him to soccer tots and jumping beans. She also enjoys cycling round the lake, gardening and cooking for friends.
